I'll start a guide based on my personal experience and from what I hear from others (and test as well).
So far here is the deal:
Rust refers to loosing stats on gear. Decay refers to stackable items(junk, frys, etc.). But basically they mean the same thing.
The best strtegy fro avoiding rust so far (that I found is this):
1) Keep your equipment (the one you are wearing) oiled at all times. This will ensure that glow/flame eating monsters won't rust your EQ (yes, monsters can eat your equipment and rust it, even if you get it back).
2) There's no need in oiling all your stuff! At the end of the day, get all your things from the storage and mail, put them in backpack and get the queens MAJOR blessing. Then go to sleep. When you will log on after reset, NOTHING will have rusted.
3) Use oils only when you send mail. Try to put 5 oils on all EQ that you are mailing (either to yourself or to someone else as part of a deal).
4) There's no point in oiling ALL equipment, since the blessing will protect it until you log on again (after one reset at least).
Now here's a small strategy for questing each day, that i find very useful:
1) When you start the day, put all your stuff in the storage. Keep on you only questing items (frys, maps, nectarines/gold apples/serpent soups) and your gear (of course!). Go quest whereever you want. When you have only 10-15 quests left, Stop questing! Go back to the village. Identify your stuff, sell it, etc. then get all your items from storage. Go into the castle. if you have equipment to mail, oil it and mail it. Don't mail the junk yet! Go to the court and get queen's major blessing. NOW mail the junk. Now get back to the court and mingle (or game) all the remaining quests (this will ensure you will always maintain your favor).
Other things I found out:
- there's no more point in mailing frys back and forth. just keep them in your backpack at the end of the day.
I will update this post as soon as i find something new or a better strategy to avoiding rust. your input will be more than appreciated.
